PUTRAJAYA: The government has agreed to provide toll discounts and implement festive season price controls for Chinese New Year.

Full details, including vehicle classes and discount amounts, will be announced by the Ministry of Works.

The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living will implement the Festive Season Maximum Price Scheme (SHMMP) for nine days.

The price control scheme will run from February 13 to 21, according to Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali.

A total of 16 types of goods have been listed under the Chinese New Year SHMMP to ensure price stability.

The scheme is designed to protect consumers from unreasonable price hikes on essential goods.
