IN response to fluctuations in global oil prices, the government has announced a reduction in the retail prices of RON97 petrol and diesel for the week of 10 April 2025 to 16 April 2025.
The price of RON97 will be lowered by 5 sen, bringing it to RM3.28 per litre, while diesel prices in Peninsular Malaysia will also drop by 5 sen to RM2.98 per litre.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Finance (MOF), these adjustments are made in accordance with the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM) formula, which is used to calculate the weekly retail prices of petroleum products based on market trends.
In addition to the reductions, the government confirmed that the price of RON95 petrol will remain unchanged at RM2.05 per litre, while diesel prices in Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan will stay at RM2.15 per litre, unaffected by the price adjustment.
"The Government will continue to monitor market developments and adjust the retail prices of RON97 and diesel according to global oil market fluctuations, while ensuring that price stability is supported," the Ministry stated.
The government emphasised that it will continue to take necessary measures to protect the welfare and well-being of the public, ensuring that essential fuel prices remain manageable in the face of unpredictable global energy market movements. – April 9, 2025
