THE Ministry of Finance has announced a three sen per litre reduction in the retail prices of RON97 petrol and diesel in Peninsular Malaysia, effective from 15 May to 21 May 2025, in response to recent shifts in global oil prices.
“The Government has agreed to reduce the retail prices of RON97 by 3 sen to RM3.07 per litre and diesel in Peninsular Malaysia by 3 sen to RM2.77 per litre,” the Ministry said in a press release issued on Wednesday.
The retail price of RON95 petrol will remain unchanged at RM2.05 per litre, while the diesel price in Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan will also be maintained at RM2.15 per litre.
The revision follows the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM) formula, which determines fuel prices based on global market fluctuations.
The Ministry affirmed that it will “continue to monitor market developments and adjust the RON97 and diesel fuel’s retail prices based on global oil market fluctuations, whilst supporting price stability.”
The statement added, “The Government will take appropriate measures to safeguard the welfare and well-being of the people.”- May 14, 2025
