Govt cuts RON97 petrol price by 4 sen amid global oil fluctuations

THE Ministry of Finance has announced a reduction in the retail price of RON97 petrol by 4 sen per litre, bringing it down to RM3.17 from 31 July to 6 August 2025.

This adjustment follows movements in global oil prices and is part of the Government’s weekly review under the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM).

“In line with the fluctuations in global oil prices, the Government has agreed to reduce the retail price of RON97 petrol by 4 sen to RM3.17 per litre from 31 July 2025 to 6 August 2025,” the Ministry said in a statement issued from Putrajaya.

The prices of other petroleum products will remain unchanged during this period. These include RON95 petrol, which stays at RM2.05 per litre; diesel in Peninsular Malaysia at RM2.91 per litre; and diesel in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan at RM2.15 per litre.

“The Government will continue to monitor market developments and adjust the RON97 fuel’s retail price based on global oil market fluctuations, whilst supporting price stability,” the Ministry added.

“The Government will continue to monitor global oil price trends and take appropriate measures to safeguard the welfare and well-being of the people.” - July 30, 2025
