THE National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) has announced the disbursement of RM41.5 million in advance loans (Wang Pendahuluan Pinjaman or WPP) to support 27,674 students entering public tertiary institutions this year.
Each eligible student will receive RM1,500 to ease the financial burden of preparing for university or polytechnic enrolment.
“This facility aims to help students begin their studies with greater confidence and comfort,” said PTPTN Chairperson Datuk Seri Norliza Abdul Rahim in a statement today.
Eligibility is limited to Malaysian citizens who have applied to public universities or polytechnics through UPUOnline or the institutions’ official portals, and whose parents or guardians are recipients of the government’s cash assistance scheme, Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR).
Students may check their WPP offer through the myPTPTN mobile application and redeem the advance from Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad (BIMB) counters nationwide, starting Wednesday.
The redemption period runs from 24 September to 23 November 2025. Students must present a printed WPP offer letter generated via the app, along with their MyKad. Redemption by proxy is not permitted.
Datuk Seri Norliza also confirmed that in Penang alone, 1,380 students are receiving WPP offers worth RM2.07 million, including 88 students in Bukit Gelugor who are collectively allocated RM132,000.
The WPP scheme is part of the Malaysian government’s broader initiative to promote equitable access to higher education. - September 20, 2025
