KUALA LUMPUR, July 1 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the government will continue to strive, with its available means and capacity, to uphold the position of Islam by the framework of the Constitution and the Malaysia Madani spirit.

In a Facebook post, he said the National Council for Islamic Religious Affairs (MKI) serves as a key platform for coordination between the royal institution and the government in managing Islamic affairs in the country, especially in efforts to strengthen human development based on compassion, ethics and knowledge to uphold human dignity.

Earlier, Anwar, who also serves as MKI deputy chairman, attended the 73rd MKI meeting, chaired by Perak’s Sultan Nazrin Shah, today.

Also present were Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Mohd Na’im Mokhtar, state representatives, senior government leaders, and MKI members.
