KUALA LUMPUR – Ceiling prices have been imposed on 11 items, including poultry and selected vegetables, as part of the Christmas 2022 pricing scheme between December 23 and 27.
The items include live chicken (in Sarawak only), chicken wings (Sarawak, Sabah and Labuan), imported bone-in lamb, tomato, green bell pepper, and round cabbage imported from China and Indonesia.
In addition, the pricing scheme applies to carrots, potatoes (imported from China), live pigs, pig stomach, pork, and lard (Sarawak, Sabah and Labuan).
Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub said in a statement that controlled prices of chicken and eggs remain.
He added that more than 2,000 enforcement personnel will be deployed to monitor the prices of goods at markets and retail outlets nationwide.
This, he said, is to ensure an immediate response to complaints by consumers.
