The government will table a proposal to expand and increase diesel subsidies for the agriculture sector, including paddy farmers and fishermen, at tomorrow’s Cabinet meeting.
PETALING JAYA: In response to ongoing volatility in global energy markets, the government will continue providing Budi Madani Diesel (BUDI Diesel) aid at RM300 per month for April 2026.
In a statement by the Ministry of Finance (MoF) today, it was announced that an additional interim RM100 will also be extended, keeping the total assistance for Budi Individu and Budi Agri-Komoditi recipients at RM300.
The aid will be disbursed from 8 April, benefiting approximately 340,000 recipients with a total allocation of around RM102 million.
Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim stressed that the government remains sensitive to the pressures faced by the public amid rising global fuel prices.
“This measure ensures diesel users, especially individuals and the agri-commodity sector, continue to receive support and are shielded from full exposure to global fuel price hikes,” he said.
Since its introduction in May 2024, BUDI Diesel has provided RM1.12 billion in cash aid, targeting those most in need while maintaining fiscal discipline during ongoing global pressures.
“The government is also exploring medium- and long-term measures to ensure the subsidy system remains sustainable, transparent, and continues to benefit the rakyat.
“Officials will closely monitor global energy markets and are prepared to take further measures to maintain stable and sufficient supply. Enforcement will also be strengthened to prevent misuse and ensure subsidies reach intended beneficiaries,” MoF said.
Applications for BUDI Diesel are open year-round via the official portal: https://budidiesel.gov.my.
