FORMER Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Latheefa Koya has called on the government to publicly confirm or deny allegations that a Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) MP accused of receiving RM9.5 million is currently serving as a Cabinet member.
Latheefa made the remarks on social media, asserting that the PKR lawmaker allegedly linked to businessman Tan Boon Long is believed to be part of the federal Cabinet, and stressing that the authorities must provide clarity on the matter without delay.
She underscored the importance of full transparency in addressing what she described as a serious allegation involving public office.
“The government must come forward to deny or confirm this matter. In such a serious incident, absolute transparency to the public is essential,” Oriental Daily reported Lateefa saying today.
She further urged the MACC to treat the case as a priority and to act swiftly in initiating investigations.
She called on the agency to summon businessman Victor Chin to record his statement and conduct a comprehensive probe, stating that the truth should be established promptly rather than waiting for any party to voluntarily come forward.
Reports have alleged that Tan Boon Long, also known as Victor Chin, claimed that a PKR Member of Parliament received RM9.5 million in connection with efforts to resolve an alleged “corporate mafia” scandal recently. - March 25, 2026
