Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Government did not pay "a single sen" to Berjaya Land Bhd (B-Land) to conduct a feasibility study on the relocation of the Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) to Kimanis.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said the government agreed to appoint Berjaya Land as they are confident that the company is capable of executing it.
“Perhaps Berjaya Group may not have the experience in such endeavour, but I do not know thoroughly about this,” he said in reply to Senallang assemblyman Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal’s supplementary question at the State Legislative Assembly sitting, here, Wednesday.
“However I am confident that they (B-Land) will engage with consultants either from within the country or abroad that have the experience in airport construction proposals.”
Recently, it was reported that Sabah Government’s strategic investment arm Qhazanah Sabah Bhd (QSB) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with B-Land to explored the possible relocation of KKIA to Kimanis, about an hour and 15-minute drive from the State Capital.
