With government school students continuing to face delays in receiving textbooks even more than a month into the academic session, the Alumni Association of School of Eminence, Ajit Saini Marg, Ladowali Road, has stepped in to support students by donating books of the medical stream worth Rs 72,000 to the school.

The alumni distributed physics, chemistry, science and mathematics books for classes XI and XII students in an effort to ensure that studies are not disrupted further due to the ongoing shortage of academic material in government schools.

The books were formally handed over to Principal Yogesh Kumar in the presence of retired IAS officer Vaneet Choudhary, Dr Vasudev, Dr SPS Grover, Surinder Saini, Satish Pusri, Vikram Chopra, Kuldeep Singh, Chander Shekher and school teacher Radhika.

The initiative comes amid growing concern over the non-availability of textbooks for several classes and subjects in government schools across the district. Students have been attending classes without complete sets of books with many depending on borrowed or old textbooks to continue studies. Reportedly, the shortage has affected self-study and note preparation among students, especially those in board classes.

Members of the alumni association said the donation was aimed at providing immediate academic support to students and easing the burden on schools facing shortages.

They said access to proper study material was essential for maintaining continuity in studies, particularly for students preparing for board examinations and competitive careers in the medical stream.

Meanwhile, teachers at the school described the contribution as timely, stating that such community led support helps bridge gaps during delays in the supply of government textbooks. They added that while schools have been managing through shared and recycled books, availability of subject wise material remains crucial for effective classroom learning.
