MALAYSIANS aged 18 and above can now check their eligibility for the one-off Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) payment via the official SARA portal, the Ministry of Finance (MoF) announced on Thursday.

The government-led initiative, announced earlier by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, will see RM100 credited directly to the MyKad of approximately 22 million citizens.

The one-off payment is intended to provide financial support to adults across the country, including recipients of the regular monthly SARA allowance.

“RM100 will be credited through each recipient’s MyKad on 9 February. This is exclusively for Malaysian citizens aged 18 and above. It also includes current monthly SARA recipients,” the ministry stated on its official Facebook page.

Eligible Malaysians can verify their status and access the programme via the SARA official website at sara.gov.my.

The Prime Minister had previously highlighted SARA as part of the 2026 Budget presented in October 2025, noting that the disbursement would take place in mid-February to coincide with preparations for Ramadan and the Chinese New Year celebrations.

This latest allocation reinforces the government’s commitment to targeted financial aid aimed at alleviating the cost of living for Malaysians, ensuring swift and automated delivery through the national identification system. - February 5, 2026
