KUALA LUMPUR – The government is set to build Kota Madani, a 102-acre urban development in Putrajaya, with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim describing it as a people-centric project anchored on integrated public services and cultural identity.
The project, which aims to consolidate key facilities such as education, health, safety, and finance within residential zones, will incorporate design elements that reflect Malaysia’s architectural heritage.
“In addition, a health clinic, fire station, police station and mosque will all be developed near residential areas,” Anwar said in a Facebook post.
He added that the school and mosque will be designed to showcase local cultural features.
The first phase of construction will include some 3,000 housing units and a high-rise school, expected to be completed and fully operational by the end of 2027.
Earlier, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories), Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa, said Kota Madani is part of a broader vision to create a smart, low-carbon city aligned with the CHASE City model – Clean, Healthy, Advanced, Safe and Eco-Friendly.
With 10,000 high-density vertical housing units planned to accommodate more than 30,000 residents, she said the development would also integrate artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, and green mobility systems to support sustainable urban living.
“This development is a long-term strategic investment in shaping Putrajaya’s future as a model city that upholds Madani values and aligns with the vision of a CHASE City,” she said.
Zaliha added that the groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for June 26.
