PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced the cabinet’s decision to rationalise subsidies for diesel soon.
Addressing the people through a televised speech nationwide, Anwar said the government will begin with targeted diesel subsidies which will be announced by the relevant ministry.
He also said that it will come into effect initially in the peninsular followed by Sabah and Sarawak.
Anwar also announced that diesel subsidies will be provided to traders to prevent any drastic increases in the cost of goods and services.
The diesel subsidies will involve 10 types of public transportation vehicles and 23 types of goods transport vehicles.
