BANGI, Sept 25 - The government will review initial issues raised by the public over the implementation of the Budi Madani RON95 (BUDI95) petrol subsidy initiative, said Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
The deputy prime minister said he had raised the matter when chairing the Cabinet Committee meeting yesterday, which focused on the BUDI95 implementation.
He said initial issues identified would be reviewed so that necessary reforms could be carried out by relevant agencies such as the Road Transport Department, the National Registration Department (NRD) and the Finance Ministry.
“We will review and refine any initial issues that may arise to further improve the system.
“This includes holders of older MyKad, whose replacement will be handled by the NRD and provided free of charge at this initial stage,” he told reporters after visiting Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysia France Institute here today.
Zahid also urged all citizens to renew their driving licences to benefit from BUDI95.
“Licences that have not been renewed for more than three years will not be eligible. So, this is the time to renew them,” he said.
He assured that all eligible citizens would benefit from the subsidy programme.
Last Monday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced a reduction in the price of RON95 petrol from RM2.05 to RM1.99 per litre effective September 30, under the targeted subsidy programme BUDI95.
