Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah State Economic Planning Unit (Upen) will receive the findings of a study into the feasibility of shifting the Kota Kinabalu International Airport to Kimanis on Thursday.
The chairman of the government’s investment arm, Qhazanah Sabah, Datuk Dr. Yusof Yacob, said Upen will then present it to the Cabinet.
“We want the Cabinet proposal to come as soon as possible. There are things we cannot reveal until it is approved,” he told a press conference Monday.
“It’s not an easy project but we need it in the long term. Our current airport is at over capacity. It can only hold 9 million tourists but we expect 10 million per year.”
