MANILA, Philippines — Grab Philippines and motorcycle taxi platform Move It have strengthened their on-trip protection program through an expanded partnership with Cocolife, widening access to emergency hospital assistance and financial support for both rider-partners and passengers.

Under the enhanced arrangement, users now have 24/7 access to more than 700 Cocolife-accredited hospitals nationwide for emergencies related to active Grab or Move It trips. The move is aimed at addressing critical gaps in on-trip incidents, particularly the need for immediate medical care and hospitalization support.

The expanded hospital assistance forms part of Grab and Move It's broader protection ecosystem. It complements the platforms’ existing group personal accident insurance, administered by AIG Philippines, which provides free coverage for fatal injuries, permanent disability, and accident-related medical expenses. Top-performing driver-, delivery-, and rider-partners also continue to receive AXA-backed life and disability benefits as part of incentive programs.

“Safety and protection have to keep evolving with the realities our partners and passengers face every day,” said Grab Philippines Managing Director Ronald Roda.

“This expanded support with Cocolife builds on our work to strengthen welfare protection in the gig economy. We remain committed to investing in stronger safety nets so partners can earn with confidence and passengers can ride with greater peace of mind,” Roda added.

The expanded coverage entitles both riders and passengers to hospital assistance for accidents occurring while a trip is active on the platform. Each member is covered up to P50,000 per year for accident-related healthcare costs, including emergency room, inpatient, and outpatient services within Cocolife’s hospital network, with additional support available subject to assessment.

Grab and MOVE IT also streamlined the claims process to allow faster access to care. In the event of an accident, a rider or passenger may proceed directly to any Cocolife-accredited hospital, which will coordinate with Cocolife and the platforms’ support teams for verification and approval. Once cleared, treatment can be provided immediately.

On-the-ground support is handled by the Grab and Move It Emergency Response Unit in coordination with their Incident Response Team, which facilitates hospital transfers and endorsements when necessary.

“Our partnership with Cocolife shows that our investment in safety goes beyond the road,” said Move It General Manager Wayne Jacinto. “We recognize the real risks on urban roads and remain committed to protecting both our partners and passengers from financial shocks, so they can continue using our platforms with dignity and security.”
