Grab is in talks to purchase a majority stake in Atome Financial, the Singapore-based buy-now-pay-later platform.

According to Bloomberg, private discussions between the two companies are currently ongoing, and while no final decisions have been made, any deal between the two will likely need at least USD2 billion, or roughly RM8.13 billion. No one from Grab, Atome nor Advance Intelligence Group—Atome’s owners—have commented on it though.

Grab is looking to boost its growth, both internally and through acquiring others, having already that they were acquiring US fintech firm Stash Financial in February this year, on top of FoodPanda’s Taiwan operations in March. Those deals were valued at roughly USD425 million and USD600 million respectively. Grab also only recently raised annual earnings and sales forecasts, despite higher fuel prices from the current geopolitical situation in the Middle East.

As for Atome and its owners Advance Intelligence Group, they’re backed by Japanese investment group SoftBank and New York-based private equity firm Warburg Pincus. They too have had a good year recently, reporting revenue of USD470 million in 2025.
