A useful primer for industry players from Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) on the Framework and Roadmap of MyTBS 2.0 was presented by the Chairman, Prof. Dr. Hassan Abu Bakar who's the Dean of Othman Yeop Abdullah Graduate School of Business (OYAGBS), Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM). MyTBS vision is “To be internationally recognised top business schools of Malaysia in promoting continuous excellence in leadership, business and management education”. It has a clear mission, 4 goals with 6 guiding principles.
It has taken a lot of gumption, effort & consultation for MyTBS 2.0 leadership with the Advisor, Prof. Dr. Azlinda binti Azman, Director General, Department of Higher Education to take that single momentous step to synergise standards and governance of the Task Force with Malaysia Higher Education Plan 2026-2035 focusing on AI & industry needs.
With my experience as Adjunct Professor & Industry Fellow, working with MyTBS 2.0 leaders, I have had the privilege to closely observe & interact with these passionate scholars, who have managed to create and build their respective GBS. Their trials and tribulations are sometimes very challenging, and they need support in all forms & manner possible.
I agree collaboration is key business engagement between industry players and faculty members for the development of MyTBS. I found the networking is the right cornerstone of MyTBS 2.0 Task Force, especially between informal conversations in the hallways, chatting during coffee, and participating in workshops and roundtables, which are our best opportunities.
It has taken me years to realise that there are people in my company who really don't want to devote full time to maximum achievement. They share my business philosophy but not my corporate goals. My business mentality has always been: (1) maximise the use of time; (2) achieve as much as I can; (3) be creative; & (4) see projects come to fruition.
