Malaysians are about 1 week away from enjoying the subsidised RON95 at a lower price, which would be set at RM1.99 per litre, effective 30 September, and all you need is your MyKad with a functional chip.

Some Malaysians, however, highlighted that the fuel price reduction is not that much, and a Malaysian man recently shared on his post, hinting at why we should feel grateful for the fuel prices.

In comparison with other Asian countries, the United Kingdom, and Australia, Malaysians actually have the lowest fuel price, even before the new RM1.99 price kicks in.

“Thank God, I’m grateful to be a Malaysian,” Fazrul remarked at the end of his post.

When asked about the fuel price in Brunei, Fazrul revealed the even lower price, which has been capped at RM1.57 per litre. However, Brunei has a population of approximately 460,000 people, according to the World Bank, and the low fuel prices in the country are due to the heavily subsidised fuel, with its substantial revenue from oil and gas.

Earlier, Finance Minister II, Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah, revealed that the petrol price of RM1.99 per litre that the people will enjoy starting September 30 is among the lowest in the world and the region.

In fact, Amir explained that the subsidised price of RON95 will not be lowered below RM1.99 per litre, even if world crude oil prices decline, because that rate has already been set as the subsidised price.

He said the implementation was proof that the MADANI Government was committed to safeguarding the welfare of the people, especially the B40 and M40, who constantly use fuel in managing their daily lives.
