KUNAK: The project to build a gravity water system in Kg Kunak Tiga near is expected to benefit nearby residents by addressing water supply issues.

Village Chief, Panglima Abdul Lahil Sarail, 59, said although the village has access to clean tap water, the erratic distribution necessitates the urgent need for gravity water facilities.

“I previously submitted this matter to the Kunak Assemblyman, Alhamdulillah, the project started today (Thursday) marking the first gravity system project here.

“If this pilot project succeeds, similar facilities may be provided to other communities in need in the future,” he said during the water source search for the system project in the village.

Lahil said the gravity water system project, costing about RM15,000, includes filter equipment and six storage tanks.

“This project is funded under the Assemblyman’s allocation,” he said.

Explaining the village position at the end of the tap water distribution system, Lahil said this contributes to uncertain and low-pressure clean water supply.

“With the implementation of this gravity water system project would help residents save water through alternative methods, such as drawing underground water treated for consumption,” he said.
