Pro-Palestinian group alleges Greek vessels breached Turkish embargo to deliver oil and military supplies to Israel, enabling its war in Gaza.
ATHENS: A pro-Palestinian campaign group has accused Greek shipping firms of covertly transporting oil and military equipment to Israel, allegedly breaching a Turkish trade embargo and enabling the war in Gaza.
The “No Harbour for Genocide” group called on Greek authorities on Monday to investigate and sanction firms whose vessels reportedly turned off tracking signals and listed false destinations before arriving at Israeli ports.
The group released a report alleging that at least 57 covert crude oil shipments delivered about 47 million barrels from Turkey to Israel between May 2024 and December 2025, in violation of Turkey’s embargo.
It further claimed that some of this oil was refined into fuel for the Israeli air force and for military vehicles and tanks.
The report named several firms involved in shipping both energy products and military cargo, calling them “a critical enabler of Israel’s genocide and illegal occupation of Palestine, as well as its escalating aggression across the region”.
Israel has consistently denied that its military actions in Gaza, which followed the Hamas attacks of October 7, 2023, constitute genocide.
The Union of Greek Shipowners, representing a sector that accounts for about 8% of Greece’s GDP, did not immediately comment on the allegations.
Greek firms operate one of the world’s largest shipping fleets, a cornerstone of the national economy.
