Last Saturday, my wife, Zarina and I joined Ana Mozhdeh & husband, Reza and their young son, Mohamad Ali, from Iran for Hari Raya Aidilfitri Open House organised by Putra Business School (PBS) in partnership with Putra Student Association (PSA) at the greenery Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) campus. Ana obtained the prestigious MBA degree from PBS and currently pursuing PhD program at UniKL. We enjoyed “a wonderful afternoon of festive delicacies, warm comaraderie, engaging conversations, meaningful connections.”

Evidently, I met a long-time friend, Professor Dr. Hishamudin Md. Som who's a senior faculty at PBS teaching green HRM subjects for MBA students. I have known Hisham in the 1990s when he served as Chair of Malaysian Institute of Human Resource Management (MIHRM) Southern Region Branch whilst I was the National President of MIHRM then. He revealed the teaching of green HRM, L&D practices that integrate environmental sustainability into various HR functions, aiming to promote eco-friendly workforce behaviours. We believe that everyone has to do our part to make this green campaign a success. We encourage our families, neighbours, students & business partners to lend their support to make this world a better place for all. There are many ways to contribute to this projects.

During my UPM walkabouts, I was amazed to observe the success of the Green Project of planting the seeds Hopea Odorata, locally known as Cengal Pasir or Siput Jantan Merawan tree, which is a medium-sized to large evergreen tree with a large crown. It can grow up to 45 meters tall and widely grown as a shade tree in the villages of Kelantan & Terengganu. It is a popular roadside tree species. (https://www.frim.gov.my; https:www.mybis.gov.my)

The Green Project initiatives from food waste compost to rooftop urban farm, serves as a model of sustainable agriculture, community engagement, and environmental stewardship for every generation, especially, youth, college, university students, and school children.
