Grimsby Town boss Paul Hurst admits a 5-0 FA Cup quarterfinal defeat at Brighton was disappointing.
Hurst was hoping for a closer scoreline going into the near impossible challenge.
He said, "It's never easy when you have lost a game of football, even against a team from the Premier League like Brighton. Towards the end, we lost a little bit of discipline. It would have been nice to keep it to 4-0 as it sounds much better than 5-0. But it just wasn't to be today.
"I've told the players to be proud. I'm proud of them; proud of the run overall and today's game. It was a real test against a top side. These sorts of occasions are great memories. We're one of only five teams to have made is to the quarter-final stage from the fourth tier."
On the Grimsby fans, he added: "The fanbase are fantastic. They have come out in their numbers. It's a community club and they are proud of their club.
"Now, we look ahead to finish the season strongly."
