A GROOM-to-be escaped death when his friend managed to pull him away after he was attacked by a crocodile while out fishing at Sungai Buaya, Kampung Gajah in Teluk Intan.

Muhammad Zarith Hafizi, 28, suffered serious injuries to his left thigh after being bitten by the reptile in the incident about 9am yesterday.

According to reports, the man who is planning to tie the knot later this month was resting by the river after casting his net with his friend, Mohd Hafiz Roslan, 29.

Suddenly he was attacked by a crocodile and shouted for help.

"Half my body was already dragged into the river. Fortunately my friend managed to grab my hand and pull me out in time," he told Utusan Malaysia.

He said the crocodile was about double his size

He said the river where he cast his net is often frequented by crocodiles, but they have never attacked humans. – December 1, 2025
