Subang Airport is taking another step towards strengthening its position as one of Malaysia's key aerospace hubs with the groundbreaking of the new Subang MRO & Logistics Complex, a development designed to support the country's growing maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) industry.
The project, developed by MFMA Industrial, a joint venture between Malaysia Airports and Mitsui Fudosan Group, introduces a new type of industrial facility at Subang Aerotech Park. Unlike previous developments that focused on leasing land or building customised facilities for individual tenants, the new complex will provide ready-built, multi-tenant spaces that allow aerospace and aviation companies to establish operations more quickly and expand as their businesses grow.

Malaysia Airports Managing Director Datuk Mohd Izani Ghani said the development reflects the changing role of Subang Airport, which has increasingly evolved into a centre for aerospace services, MRO activities, and general and business aviation.
"Today's groundbreaking represents another milestone in Subang Airport's transformation. As industry needs continue to evolve, we are expanding the types of infrastructure available to support companies of different sizes, from established global players to growing SMEs," he said during the ceremony.
The complex is expected to offer greater flexibility for businesses seeking operational space without the long lead times typically associated with purpose-built facilities. Its strategic location within Subang Airport also provides direct access to the Klang Valley's extensive aerospace and logistics ecosystem.
Over the years, Malaysia Airports has invested and facilitated approximately RM1.2 billion in infrastructure and real estate developments across both KLIA and Subang Airport. The Subang Aerotech Park has already attracted several major aerospace players, including Senior Aerospace and Collins Aerospace, reinforcing the airport's growing reputation as an aviation industry cluster.

Malaysia Airports said the collaboration combines Mitsui Fudosan's experience in industrial real estate development with its own expertise as an airport operator, ensuring the facilities are designed around the practical operational needs of aerospace businesses.
Beyond supporting industry players, the development is expected to strengthen Malaysia's competitiveness in attracting aerospace investments while creating additional opportunities for supply chain companies and aviation service providers.
The groundbreaking ceremony was officiated by Transport Minister Anthony Loke, whose presence underscored the Government's continued commitment to developing Malaysia's aviation and aerospace industries through strategic infrastructure investment and public-private partnerships.
