
A clash broke out between two groups in the Bilaspur area on Wednesday over a manpower supply contract, resembling a scene from a movie.
Dozens of miscreants arrived in multiple vehicles to seize the contract for a major company. They not only opened fire but also smashed four vehicles.
The miscreants fled the scene after the incident, leaving the entire area near Ansal Society in panic. Cops launched an investigation and identified nine suspects.
According to the police, thousands of people work at a company near Ansal Society, involving a manpower supply contract worth crores of rupees every month. On Wednesday, two rival groups clashed while trying to secure this contract.
According to eyewitnesses, miscreants arriving in several vehicles suddenly opened fire near Ansal Society. A battle for dominance erupted right on the street, and vehicles were vandalised during the incident.
There were no reports of any casualties, but sources said one person was injured by a gunshot. After receiving information about the incident, the police arrived at the scene, but the accused had fled, leaving behind their damaged vehicles.
The police found four vehicles at the site, including a Thar and two Brezzas. Investigations revealed that these vehicles were registered in the name of residents of Shikohpur and Sahrawan villages. A black Scorpio was also found parked suspiciously.
“Our police team reached the spot after getting information. Facts are currently being gathered from the site. No reports of any injuries have been received so far. The situation is currently under control, and the matter is being investigated thoroughly,” said inspector Sunil Kumar, SHO of the Bilaspur police station.
