AC Milan's plans to renew Mike Maignan's contract has hit a snag.

The scrapping of Italy's Growth Decree has complicated Milan's aim to upgrade the France goalkeeper's deal.

Currently, Maignan is tied to Milan until 2026, with a net salary of around 2.8m-a-year. The figure will not change with the repeal of the Growth Decree - which will only affect contracts signed after 31 December 2023 - but will make any extension much more expensive.

The Diavolo wish to bring the salary to around 4m. But the player's demands may change with the tax breaks now scrapped, says Tuttosport.

For his part, Maignan wants to stay with Milan, but is insisting he is paid what he feels he's worth.
