GRS endorses Upko’s application to join coalition

Kota Kinabalu: Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) has endorsed the application by the United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (Upko) to become a component party of the coalition.

The endorsement was made during a GRS Supreme Council meeting chaired by Chief Minister and GRS Chairman Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor here on Thursday.

Upko formally submitted its application on May 29, with party president Datuk Ewon Benedick handing the application letter to Hajiji.

The party said its application was aimed at strengthening unity among Sabah-based political parties, advancing its Sabah First agenda and reinforcing Sabah’s position on matters related to the Malaysia Agreement 1963 and the State’s constitutional rights, while aligning with the State Government’s Sabah Maju Jaya 2.0 development agenda.

The endorsement paves the way for Upko’s formal admission into GRS, subject to the completion of the necessary processes.
