KOTA KINABALU: Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Secretary-General Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun (pic) said the coalition does not dismiss the possibility of a free-for-all contest in the coming state election but hopes political partners will exercise common sense.

He said the recent statement by UPKO Secretary-General Senator Datuk Nelson Angang hinting at plans to contest GRS-held seats, including Limbahau, was premature as no formal announcement had been made.

Masidi said for negotiated seats, GRS will field its candidates regardless of who else decides to contest.

He emphasised that GRS values teamwork and mutual respect among coalition members, adding that unity is key to preventing internal conflicts that could weaken the bloc.

Masidi, who has represented Karanaan for 21 years, said he welcomes competition but will continue to lead by example as Gagasan Rakyat’s Deputy President, with GRS expected to unveil its candidates about a week before nomination day.
