Kota Kinabalu: The GRS-PH Plus State Government does not play the finger-pointing game when it comes to issues pertaining to the State’s poor basic facilities.
However, it will return the favour to Sabah’s opposition leaders such as Umno Putatan Division Chief Jeffrey Nor Mohammed.
Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) Information Chief Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan said the finger- pointing attitude practised by the opposition mirrors insincerity in developing the State.
“They are just politicking a little too hard in an attempt to sabotage steps taken to solve the perennial problems.

Read more “Even though the government of the day is only three years old, it has faced various obstacles, including the Covid-19 pandemic and a coup where Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor remains focused on bettering the State.
“Calling the government of today a failure is saying that the government is idle. But, in reality, various steps have been taken. Some have even been felt, while others are following up to be completed,” he said in a statement.
Nizam does not deny that some of today’s government leaders are from the previous government which was a dominant pillar party from the peninsula.
However, he said Sabah has always felt marginalised because the distribution of development funds received from the Federal Government did not meet the real needs of development for a state as large as Sabah.
“There are still many issues of basic facilities in Sabah that cannot be resolved. Because of the awareness of that weakness, the time has come for the leaders and people of Sabah to unite and continue to defend their fate and rights in the context of a local party.
“This State is our home and we are the ones who should be taking care of it. The people of Sabah must unite under a local body and avoid division to protect the interests of the State and its people, in addition to national interests.
“We need stable politics for the Government to focus on implementing the State’s development agenda in accordance with the direction of Sabah Maju Jaya,” he stressed.
Nizam said the GRS-PH Plus Government so far has shown positive signs from all aspects of the struggle whether in terms of improving the State’s economy, the fulfilment of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 and resolving basic facilities.
“We are also grateful to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar for always understanding the needs of Sabah and being with the struggle of the Sabah Government led by Hajiji.
“In ending Sabah’s basic facilities struggle, the Sabah Government today had demanded and has taken over energy regulation, recognised the State Public Works Department as a Technical Department, the implementation of federal projects under RM50 million, in addition to establishing a trust fund for development allocations from the Federal Government so that the past does not repeat itself.
“The GRS-PH Plus Government is also working hard to strengthen political stability and unity in Sabah. The Sabah Government today is on the right track to continue to bring development for the wellbeing of all,” he said.
