KOTA KINABALU: Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) is prepared to contest the upcoming state election on its own if Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) decide to collaborate, said Chief Minister and GRS chairman Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor in a statement in Friday.

He said GRS remains firm in its belief that Sabah should be led by local parties that understand the state's culture, realities, and people’s needs.

Departing from this principle would be ignoring the aspirations of a large segment of Sabahans, he said.

He added that GRS will soon hold a leadership meeting to determine its direction for the state election and engage with other local government parties to gather their views.
