TAMBUNAN: The Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) candidate for the Tambunan seat, Datuk Victor P Paut, promised he will donate 20 per cent of his monthly salary if given the mandate by the people tomorrow (Saturday).
The salary deduction will be channelled to an education fund and welfare organisations to assist those who genuinely require aid.
“When I see the situation in Tambunan, there are many matters that need attention. I hope the 20 per cent salary deduction can in some way ease the burden of the people of Tambunan,” he said.
GRS Tambunan has unveiled a manifesto themed “100-Day Transformation Tambunan Maju Jaya.” The manifesto focuses on enhancing public welfare, strengthening public services and ensuring that village development is felt comprehensively.
The manifesto includes initiatives such as free outpatient registration at Tambunan Hospital, the introduction of a digital complaints system to facilitate the reporting of public issues, financial support for couples preparing to marry by covering full pre-marriage course fees and the installation of solar lights in every village.
Places of worship would get new chairs and a rapid-response platform to assist families facing emergencies or financial hardship.
Victor expressed confidence that the public will recognise the sincerity and dedication behind these efforts to deliver promised change.
Victor faces a tough contest against incumbent Tambunan Assemblyman Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan of Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (Star).
The race also involves seven other candidates, making the Tambunan state seat one of the most closely watched contests in this election.
