KOTA KINABALU: GRS will decide on Upko’s application to join the coalition at its Supreme Council meeting on June 18.
Secretary-general Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said engagement sessions are ongoing and a paper is being prepared, expressing optimism over Upko’s inclusion.
He said GRS views the application positively, citing Upko’s early support for Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor and its track record in championing Sabah’s rights.
Any party joining must align with GRS’ four core principles and demonstrate real strength and contribution.
GRS is also assessing Upko’s structure, membership and grassroots support.
Armizan said public response has been positive, noting Upko’s role in maintaining government stability and supporting development efforts.
