SANDAKAN: Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah must be fielded as the candidate for Sekong to ensure Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) successfully captures the seat in the 17th State Election, according to the party’s Vice President, Datuk Masiung Banah.
He said surveys conducted during visits to the constituency showed that Gagasan Rakyat, led by Safarudin Abu, commands 68 per cent of public support, far exceeding other parties within GRS and Pakatan Harapan (PH).
“I am confident Gagasan Rakyat has a strong chance of winning and wresting the Sekong seat from Warisan,” he said after visiting the Sekong Gagasan Rakyat War Room, recently.
The Zone 10 Gagasan Rakyat Sandakan Chairman said the party led by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor is the top choice among various segments of society in Sekong.
However, Masiung, who is also Kuamut Assemblyman, offered no such guarantee if other parties within GRS and PH were fielded to contest the East Coast constituency.
He claimed detailed feedback from all seven District Polling Centres (PDM) in Sekong clearly showed Gagasan Rakyat dominating as the backbone of GRS.
