GTA 6 details leak ahead of Netflix reveal, teasing basketball mini-game and car maintenance

It looks like the cat's out of the bag, as new details about Rockstar Games' upcoming video game, "Grand Theft Auto 6," have reportedly leaked online ahead of its Netflix reveal on August 27.

According to GameSpot, an apparent hacker group called Cyberleek is behind the leaked GTA 6 details after releasing multiple videos across the internet and social media.

The group also issued demands to Rockstar Games and its parent company, Take-Two Interactive, in the form of "commandments":

Thou Shalt Not Sell Digital PreordersThou Shalt Not Sell Fake Single-Player DLCThou Shalt Preserve Single-Player Content

Neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has issued an official statement regarding the alleged leak.

What's new with GTA 6?

According to the leaked gameplay footage, GTA 6 will feature a basketball mini-game. Jason, one of the game's protagonists, is seen playing basketball outside his house, complete with a tutorial and focus meter.

The game will also reportedly introduce a six-star wanted level and a karma or reputation system similar to the one featured in "Red Dead Redemption 2."

Police are said to be smarter and more persistent, with officers able to identify players based on their faces, clothing and getaway vehicles. Changing one's appearance could reportedly help reduce the wanted level.

Vehicles will now require fuel and maintenance. They will feature storage and loadout slots in their trunks, allowing players to carry items and weapons.

Non-playable characters (NPCs) can can now exit their vehicles and engage in road-rage encounters. Melee attacks will require stamina and energy, while car crashes can deplete the player's health bar.

The game is also expected to feature two types of currencies: one tied to the player's safehouse and another associated with Jason.

Meanwhile, leaked details about the game's fictional setting of Leonida reportedly reveal five locations: Lummox, Leonard, Kelly, Vice Dale and Mariana. It remains unclear whether these names originated from Rockstar or were created by fans.

"Grand Theft Auto 6" is scheduled for release on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. While physical copies are reportedly expected to contain download codes, Take-Two has not entirely ruled out a disc release.
