Pre-orders for the world's most expensive piece of content are set to begin on Thursday, with the long-awaited action game "Grand Theft Auto VI" going on sale for $80 or $100 ahead of its launch on November 19.

Parent company Take-Two Interactive confirmed the pricing on Wednesday, with the $80 price getting buyers the standard edition of the game. This also includes a Vintage Vice City Pack with throwback outfits, hairstyles, a weapon and car, if purchased before launch.

There is also an Ultimate Edition for $100, which adds more exclusive vehicles, clothes and weapons.

With an estimated budget of well over $1 billion, "GTA VI" is set to become the most expensive entertainment product ever made. However, it is also proving pricey for gamers.

At prices up to $100, the cult game series is setting a new benchmark for premium game pricing by pushing the price tag above the $70 that has typically been asked for recent top-tier games. The $70 upper limit had been broken before, however, with Nintendo charging $80 for its flagship Switch 2 console game, "Mario Kart World," in June 2025.

Rockstar, GTA's developer, said pre-sales will start at midnight local time on June 25. "GTA VI" will initially be released exclusively for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. PC gamers will have to wait longer.

"Grand Theft Auto" is one of the best-known video game series in the world and was first released in 1997. "Grand Theft Auto VI" is set in a fictional version of the US city of Miami. Its predecessor has sold more than 200 million copies since 2013.

Trailers released so far feature high-speed car chases, fast motorboats, beaches, weapons and crocodiles. "GTA VI" has been delayed twice, moving from an original target of autumn 2025 and later May 2026 before settling on the November launch date.
