You would think that those who want to explore the world, to a point where they’ve trekked Mount Everest, would have a deeper appreciation for nature and its beauty, right?

WRONG.

Mount Everest trekking guide Tenzi Sherpa took to his Instagram account to showcase just how littered Mount Everest is!

He wrote, “The dirtiest camp I have ever seen. We can see lots of tents, empty oxygen bottles, steel bowls, spoons, sanitary pads, paper and a lot more things, which has been used by humans. This work was done by us, who are there to climb Mount Everest.”

He further shared his disappointment as people apparently like leaving items behind to ‘mark’ their presence there.

“I feel so sad every time because I have seen many a times while doing expedition groups, and companies would cut out their company logos and leave it there at the tents for the rest (to see).”

“The Clean the Mountain campaign had begun many years ago, although the campaign made good effort to clean the mountain, there are always companies leaving their trash on the mountain every time, so it’s hard to clean,” he explained.

He has since called for action to be taken against litterers

“I would like to request for the government to punish companies who leave their trash on the mountain, it’s a huge problem we are all facing,” he added.

It is truly heartbreaking to know that, despite having access to mind-opening experiences like climbing Mount Everest and seeing the world from above, people are still underappreciating the beauty of nature by littering and destroying the environment.

This is why we can’t have nice things.
