MANILA, Philippines — Panic erupted outside the Senate building in Pasay City late Wednesday after gunshots were heard inside the complex, prompting supporters of Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa to surge toward the Senate gates.
Police personnel and Senate security immediately formed defensive lines and tightened security as tensions escalated outside the compound.
Authorities have yet to confirm the source of the gunshots.
