The Municipal Corporation Gurugram (MCG) has announced revised water tariffs across the city, with the new rates effective from April 1 under a phased annual hike plan till 2027.

According to MCG officials, the revised charges will apply to residential consumers, group housing societies, institutional, industrial and commercial users. The civic body said water tariffs would increase by nearly 5 per cent every financial year from 2024 to 2027. Officials said the revised pricing structure aimed to strengthen the financial sustainability of water supply services and promote water conservation in the rapidly growing city. Residents were also urged to pay bills on time and use water judiciously.

Under the revised residential rates for 2026, consumers will pay Rs 3.04 per kilolitre for consumption up to 10 kilolitres, Rs 6.08 for 10–20 kilolitres, Rs 9.72 for 20–30 kilolitres and Rs 12.16 for consumption above 30 kilolitres. In 2027, these rates will rise to Rs 3.19, Rs 6.38, Rs 10.21 and Rs 12.76 per kilolitre respectively. For group housing societies, the 2026 tariff has been fixed at Rs 6.08 per kilolitre for the first 20 kilolitres and Rs 12.16 beyond that limit. In 2027, the rates will increase to Rs 6.38 and Rs 12.76 respectively. Institutional consumers will pay Rs 12.16 per kilolitre in 2026, rising to Rs 12.76 in 2027. Industrial and commercial users will be charged Rs 18.23 per kilolitre in 2026, which will increase to Rs 19.14 in 2027.

The MCG also announced other service charges, including a disconnection and reconnection fee of Rs 1,000, meter-testing charges of Rs 50 for 15 mm meters and a late payment penalty of 10 per cent of the current bill amount.

Meanwhile, the civic body has invited applications from plumbers seeking empanelment as authorised plumbers under the corporation. Officials said empanelled plumbers would also be eligible for incentives under the scheme.

MCG officials said the revised tariffs were expected to improve maintenance, operations and overall efficiency of the city’s water supply infrastructure amid rising urban demand.
