The Gurugram police on Thursday demolished illegal encroachments on government land at Peer Colony in Sohna. Illegal structures built by two repeat offenders were razed using a JCB machine during an anti-encroachment drive.

According to the police, a campaign is underway against land mafia members and repeat offenders involved in illegal encroachments across the city. Acting on information, the authorities identified and removed encroachments on government land.

During the operation, the police identified Shahrukh and Arshad, both residents of Peer Colony in Sohna as repeat offenders with several criminal cases registered against them in Gurugram. Shahrukh faces 34 theft cases, while Arshad has six theft cases and one case under the NDPS Act.

The operation was carried out by the Crime Branches of Sohna and Sector 43, in coordination with the administration. All illegal structures were successfully removed and law and order remained under control throughout the operation.

“Investigation revealed that the accused had illegally occupied government land and built a single-storey house on it. They allegedly used the property for theft-related activities. Such intelligence-led enforcement drives will continue,” said a Gurugram police spokesperson.
