Governor Kavinder Gupta on Wednesday visited Government Primary School at Gujrehra in Kangra district and interacted with students, teachers and education officials to assess the ground realities in the rural areas of the state. The Governor took first-hand feedback on the academic environment, infrastructure facilities and challenges being faced by schools in far-flung regions. He interacted with students and encouraged them to pursue education with dedication, discipline and confidence.

The Governor asserted that there could be no compromise with the quality of education in rural and remote areas. He said that children were the future of the nation and there was urgent need to strengthen educational infrastructure in government schools located in difficult terrains.

Gupta said that providing quality education to every child, irrespective of geographical challenges, should be the top priority of the government. He underlined the importance of improving classrooms, sanitation facilities, digital learning resources and creating a conducive academic atmosphere in rural schools.

The Governor expressed satisfaction over Himachal Pradesh’s achievements in the education sector at the national level. He referred to the Performance Grading Index (PGI) 2.0 and PGI-D 2024-25 reports issued by the Union Ministry of Education and said that the state had secured the sixth position in the country and the third position among the states category after registering significant improvement in educational standards.
