
Kota Kinabalu: A man was charged with taking drug repeatedly.
Gordon Chong appeared before Sessions Court Judge Elsie Primus, to face the charge against him.
However, no plea was taken from Chong pending the pathologist’s report.
The court set Feb 3 this year to mention Chong’s case and ordered him to be remanded further pending the date.
Chong was charged under Section 39C (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which provides for a jail term of between five and seven years, and whipping, on conviction.
Meanwhile, a Filipino who entered the State without any document, was jailed four months and ordered to get a stroke of the cane.
Sessions Court Judge Noor Hafizah Mohd Salim meted out the sentence to Amri Hasa who pleaded guilty to the charge against him.
Amri was arrested at the city area after failing to produce his identification document to the police.
The court ordered Amri to serve the jail sentence from the date of his arrest.
After completing his jail sentence, Amri was also ordered to be referred to the Immigration Department for his biometric data to be recorded before deportation.
