Kota Kinabalu: A man was jailed six years and ordered to get a stroke of the cane for taking syabu repeatedly.

Awang Hasshim Ag Tahir @ Pg Tahir was found guilty by Sessions Court Judge Azreena Aziz after full trial.

He was found taking the drug on Aug 31, 2020 after his urine was tested positive at the Beaufort police station.

Awang Hasshim has several conviction records for taking drugs.

The court ordered Awang Hasshim to serve the jail sentence from the date of his arrest. After completing his jail sentence, Awang Hasshim was ordered placed under police supervision for two years.

Meanwhile, a woman was charged with entering the State illegally.

However, no plea was recorded from Norsidah Marcholel pending the availability of a Bajau interpreter.

The court set June 12 for mention to take plea from Norsidah.

Pending the date, Norsidah was ordered remanded under Section 259 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
