A poor little dog in Thailand, named ‘Moo Daeng’, has earned the nickname ‘Hachi of Korat’, in reference to the legendary ‘Hachi of Japan’, a dog that became famous after it was spotted waiting for its master who never came back.
According to a report by The Nation, the Mari-Mo Photography Facebook page first shared photos of Moo Daeng, as it was spotted sleeping outside of a 7-Eleven in downtown Korat, Thailand, with a red blanket, a stuffed toy and a message written on a sign.
The sign, written by the owner of the 7-Eleven outlet, read, “Thank you to all customers for your kindness but Moo Daeng cannot eat liver and milk. Please help it live long.”
Moo Daeng was waiting for its owner
It was then revealed that Moo Daeng was waiting outside of the convenience store for its owner, a homeless man who had passed away.
The homeless man, who is said to have had a mental disorder and dressed like a hermit, had apparently always fed Moo Daeng and would beg for food or money to ensure that they both had enough to live day by day. The duo would often spend their nights outside the 7-Eleven outlet.
He then became ill and died in November 2024, leaving Moo Daeng waiting outside of the convenience store for him.
The owner of the convenience store and their staff have since started taking care of Moo Daeng by feeding it and providing it with blankets on cold nights.
