The upcoming PAS internal elections have confirmed that the party’s top leadership will remain unchanged, with Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang and Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man retaining their positions as President and Deputy President respectively. The Central PAS Election Committee announced that both leaders would continue uncontested in their posts for the 2025–2027 term.
According to the committee chairman, Wan Rohimi Wan Daud, the nomination process has been completed, and the finalized list covers several levels within the party, including the Central Working Committee, Ulama Council, Youth Council, and Muslimat Council.
For the Vice President’s post, four names will be on the ballot. Three of them are incumbents – Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, Datuk Idris Ahmad, and Datuk Mohd Amar Abdullah – who will now face competition from Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor. This contest is expected to draw significant attention as it pits longstanding figures against a rising name in the party.
The race for the head of the Central PAS Ulama Council will also be closely watched, with Datuk Ahmad Yahaya and Datuk Mohd Nor Hamzah confirmed as candidates. The contest highlights the importance of the council’s influence in shaping religious and policy direction within the party.
In the Youth Council, incumbent Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden will defend his position against Mohamed Sukri Omar, signaling another generational test within PAS. Meanwhile, the Muslimat Council will see no leadership change, as Nuridah Mohd Salleh continues unchallenged in her role as head of the women’s wing.
As for the Central PAS Working Committee, the election has attracted 38 candidates vying for seats. Among them are prominent figures such as Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan, Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim, Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz, and Ahmad Fadhli Shaari. Their involvement reflects both continuity and the party’s efforts to showcase a wide representation of experience and influence.
The announcement effectively solidifies the status of Hadi Awang and Tuan Ibrahim as the leading figures steering PAS into the next two years, ensuring stability at the very top while allowing contests in other divisions to generate fresh dynamics. The upcoming polls are expected to reaffirm the party’s direction while also highlighting internal debates about leadership renewal and the balance of power within its wings.
