A fundraiser set up in the wake of 14-year-old Daniel Anjorin’s death has surpassed £45,000 pounds just a day after it was created.

The GoFundMe page was set up by a friend of Daniel’s brother on Wednesday to raise money for the family.

Teenager Daniel Anjorin died on Tuesday morning after a samurai swaord attack in Hainault in east London.

“On the 30th April, 2024, as [Daniel] was going to school he was attacked and unfortunately passed from the injuries he sustained,” the page’s message reads. “He was only in Year 9 and was a loved student at Bancrofts in Woodford. He meant so much to a lot of people and will be dearly missed.”

Tributes for Daniel have been pouring in since his death. A statement issued by his school said: “We are devastated by the heartbreaking news... This has left us in profound shock and sorrow.”

On Thursday, Marcus Monzo, 36, appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court charged with Daniel’s murder.
