BONGAWAN: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor stressed the importance of cooperation between the State and Federal Governments, saying both must work together for the nation’s progress.

He said during a community event here on Monday that while Sabah must continue to defend its rights, it should also uphold the unity of Malaysia as a shared nation under the Federal system.

Hajiji revealed that about half a million Sabahan students had benefited from RM1.3 billion in education allocations over the past four years, a record figure compared to previous administrations.

He said the increase was made possible by improved state revenue management, rising from about RM5 billion annually to RM7.5 billion, allowing more scholarships and assistance to reach the people.

The GRS chairman also announced Tan Sri Anifah Aman as the coalition’s candidate for Bongawan in the upcoming Sabah election, urging voters to reject opposition rhetoric and unite for continued stability and development.
