BONGAWAN, Nov 11 — Caretaker Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor on Monday announced Parti Cinta Sabah (PCS) president Tan Sri Anifah Aman as the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) candidate for the Bongawan state seat in the upcoming 17th Sabah State Election.
“With GRS, its component parties and machinery are strong. Combined with the people’s support and unity, I am confident Bongawan belongs to GRS, and we aim to win,” he said at the Ramah Mesra event with the people of Bongawan at the Bongawan Multipurpose Hall on Monday.
Hajiji who is GRS chairman, added that the Bongawan seat, currently held by the opposition, should be returned to the government bloc to ensure its progress in line with the slogan Bongawan Maju.
Apart from Bongawan, Hajiji also expressed confidence in GRS’s ability to once again form the state government after the Nov 29 polls.
He reminded all parties of the importance of unity to ensure continued political stability in Sabah, which can be demonstrated through their support in the upcoming election.
“If we form the government again, more economic programmes will be planned for the people over the next five years,” he said, urging the public not to be swayed by the opposition’s rhetoric, slander, or lies. — The Borneo PPost
