Hajiji hopes MPs will support Sabah labour law amendment

Kota Kinabalu: The State Government hopes that the Sabah Labour Ordinance Act amendment, scheduled for a second reading during the fourth term of the Parliament session in October 2024, will receive unanimous support from all Members of Parliament.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said the Sabah Labour Ordinance (Amendment) Bill 2024 was tabled for first reading by the Human Resources Minister during the third term of the Parliament session on July 17, 2024.

"I sincerely hope that the second reading of this bill scheduled for the fourth term of the Parliament session in October 2024 will receive unanimous support from all Members of Parliament.

"I am very confident that this amendment to the Labour Ordinance (Sabah Chapter 67) will benefit employers and workers in Sabah with more detailed and orderly guidance for all parties in improving industrial relations to make it more harmonious and conducive," he said when officiating the 2024 National-level Convention on Combating Human Trafficking and Forced Labour at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC), here, Thursday.
